The concept of a boom furling system using an outhaul car to provide foot tensioning for both full and reefed mainsail positions was met with immediate approval by performance-orientated owners. The first MKII carbon performance boom was installed on SY Visione. Featuring Rondal’s ‘Style to Order’ design options, an open forward end to keep the luff as close to the mast as possible, hydraulic motor located inside the mandrel for weight and styling purposes, and a carbon hydraulic outhaul cylinder, the MKII set new standards in performance and style for boom furling. With the yachts becoming still larger and the loads becoming higher, we recognised it was time to introduce further market-leading developments. The new Rondal Performance Boom MKIII will incorporate all the features of its predecessors , our team has developed a new, compact outhaul system that can cope with higher loads and deeper reefs without incurring the weight penalty. |
